BLADE & SHARPS GUIDANCE
IMPORTANT WARNING | Serious injury could occur if the precautions and guidance on this page are not followed (bookmark this page for future reference).
- BLADES ARE VERY SHARP; SERIOUS INJURY IS POSSIBLE!
- USE EXTREME CAUTION; HANDLE AND STORE WITH CARE!
- Wear safety goggles (both user and bystander) and cut-resistant gloves.
- Only use blades for cutting light sheet materials as instructed.
- Keep out of reach of children.
BEFORE USE | Inspect the blade before each use and do not use if worn or damaged.
FOR YOUR PROTECTION |
- Work in a well-lit space and always use a new blade edge. A sharp blade edge enables you to cut in controlled way with less effort whereas worn blades increases risk of injury or damage.
- Never twist or bend blades and do not use excessive pressure while cutting.
- Always keep blades away from body parts; never touch or wipe the blade edge.
- Always cut away from yourself and others, keeping body parts clear of blade path, or the path the blade might take if it slips.
- Stop cutting if you need focus on something else.
- Cover blades at all times when not in use.
- For safe and satisfactory performance we recommend a Maverick knife is used.
BLADE SNAP-OFF SYSTEM (MAVERICK item 00945) |
- Always keep upright and never shake.
- Do not fill higher than the [MAX CAPACITY] line.
- When using a retractable snap-off knife, do not use the blade extended beyond the length of a single blade segment.
-
Insert single blade segment so that the blade break line becomes parallel to the blade snapping slit.
- Snap-off the blade segment by setting it so you snap away from the break lines in the blade. Do not apply excessive force.
- If you are having difficulty to snap a blade, please change the entire blade.
BLADE SNAP-OFF - PLIERS METHOD |
- When using a retractable snap-off knife, do not use the blade extended beyond the length of a single blade segment.
- To snap-off a segment from a blade, face the knife away from you and securely expose a single blade segment from the knife. Hold the exposed segment of the blade with a pair of pliers ensuring the pliers run parallel to the score line. Firmly holding both the knife and pliers in each hand, snap the blade away from the break line in the blade and in a downwards action away from you using controlled force. The blade should snap at the score line close to the edge of the pliers. Do not apply excessive force.
- If you are having difficulty to snap a blade, please change the entire blade.
- Never attempt to snap-off a blade segment with your fingers.
STORAGE |
- Keep blades in a dry place that is out of reach of children.
- When storing blades in a retractable knife, retract the blade fully and immediately after use.
BLADE DISPOSAL |
- Dispose of blades safely and ideally in a puncture-resistant container.
- Never put blades loosely into a bin.
- Follow local regulations when disposing of blades.
